My quest for personal development has lead me to read, listen and watch so much advice. But a part of me is exasperated. When will it end, when can I give up with all this learning? I just want to sit back and be content for a while.
“Self improvement is masturbation. Now self destruction...”
The dark side of self help/Personal Development – Richard Collison
There is a deranged lunatic riding a city bus, muttering to himself between flashes of light while him and his fellow passengers throttle headlong into the darkness of a sprawling urban scape. The two observe a Calvin Klein advertisement of a model sporting a pair of tight-fitting briefs. Is that what a man looks like? The first asks. A moment of contemplation passes before the second chuckles. Self-improvement is masturbation, he muses.
The ‘Fight Club’ Debate: Just What Is the Message Here?
To get the most out of the bmindful forum, please sign up or log in! A bold statement, and because the movie is so frequently misunderstood and misinterpreted, probably a fairly unpopular statement too. Fight Club is one of the few films I have watched more than once. What Tyler is saying is that society has instilled some values in most people that are way off the mark.
Welcome to the Fight Club blog, if you're searching for quotes, ideas and philosophy from Fight Club then you're at the right place Nice stuff man, Anyway I want to make a point on the quote. Tyler's point with self-improvement being manstrubation is that you don't let it go, by that I mean your limetingbeliefs and fears Selfdestruction dosen't necassarliy mean not to improve one self as individual, go to the gym etc To me, selfdestruction is more about becomeing a "real"man and by that I mean to change your own beliefs about things, conquering hesatation and stuff like that.
